Recording programmes

Record what you're watching or schedule from the guide, and watch it later inside the app.

Record what you're watching

With a channel playing, open the player menu and choose Record. Recording starts right away and continues until you stop it.

You can keep watching the same channel while recording. Switching to another channel depends on your list allowing two connections at the same time — many only allow one, and in that case the recording uses up the connection.

Schedule from the TV guide

  1. Open the TV guide and find the programme.
  2. Press OK and choose Record.
  3. The programme is marked in the guide and, at the scheduled time, Vuzo starts recording.

For the recording to happen, the device has to be on (it can be in standby, but not unplugged) and connected to the internet.

Where recordings are saved

Recordings are saved on the device itself or on a USB stick plugged into the box, depending on what you choose in the recording settings. You watch recordings inside Vuzo, in the recordings list, where you can also delete them.

An hour of an HD channel can take up several gigabytes. Boxes usually have little free space: if you record often, a USB stick is the best choice.

Roughly how much space it takes

It depends on the channel and the provider, but as a rough guide: a standard-definition channel takes around 1 to 1.5 GB per hour; in HD, 2 to 4 GB per hour; in 4K, considerably more. A football match in HD, with extra time, can go over 8 GB. A 64 GB stick holds many hours; a box with 8 GB free holds two or three.

Format the stick on the device itself if it asks you to, and keep it plugged in whenever there are recordings scheduled.

Things to keep in mind

  • Connections: a recording uses one of your list's connections, just like watching a channel.
  • End time: if the programme runs late (sport, for example), it's a good idea to extend the recording.
  • Personal use: recordings are for you to watch at home, on your device. Respect the rights of those who produce the content and your provider's terms.
Recording is one of the licensed features. It's available for you to try during the first 14 days.

Common problems

The recording is empty or very short: usually the connection dropped or the provider refused a second connection. It didn't record at the scheduled time: check that the device wasn't unplugged and that its clock is correct. If it keeps happening, send us the report from Settings → Diagnostics via the contact page.
